Overview

The Texas Instruments UC1843J is a current-mode pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller from the UC184x family, supplied in a ceramic dual-in-line package (CDIP) and qualified for full military temperature range operation. This device integrates a trimmed oscillator for accurate frequency setting, a wide-bandwidth error amplifier, a current-sense comparator with leading-edge blanking, and a high-current totem-pole output stage capable of directly driving power MOSFETs. The low startup current consumption and under-voltage lockout with hysteresis support efficient off-line and DC-DC converter implementations while minimizing standby power dissipation.

Typical end-use scenarios include isolated and non-isolated power supplies for avionics, radar processing units, missile guidance systems, and satellite payloads where extended temperature performance and high reliability are mandatory. It also appears in ruggedized industrial power conditioning and down-hole drilling equipment.
