Overview

What is A54SX08-VQ100I? It is an Actel SX-family one-time-programmable antifuse FPGA, not an SX-A device. The original SX data sheet lists 12,000 system gates, 768 logic modules made from 512 combinatorial cells and 256 register cells, and 81 user I/Os in the 100-pin VQFP package. The family uses a 0.35 µm CMOS metal-to-metal antifuse process, supports 3.3 V and 5 V operation with 5 V input tolerance, and specifies up to 320 MHz internal family performance. Antifuse programming forms permanent connections and leaves no external configuration bitstream to load at power-up.

How does `VQ100I` decode? This ordering code has the blank standard speed grade; VQ means a very-thin 1.0 mm plastic quad flat package; 100 is the pin count; and I is the -40°C to +85°C industrial temperature range. The A54SX08 order code is distinct from A54SX08A and from radiation-tolerant RT54SX products, so radiation qualification must not be inferred from the antifuse architecture. Microchip's current legacy page and AN6463 identify A54SX08 as discontinued. ZZX Electronics lists 540 pcs with date code 1705.
